Each section scored 0–9 in 0.25 increments.
The overall band score is the average of the four section scores, rounded to the nearest 0.5 or whole number.
Points gained for correct answers only — no penalty for incorrect answers or blanks.

As frequently as they can schedule it.
How long does it take to get scores back?
Paper IELTS: 13–14 days; Computer IELTS: 3–5 days; Online IELTS: 6–8 days.
For how long are scores valid?
Two years from the exam date.
Is the Speaking section on the same day?
Usually, but depending on the test center, Speaking can be scheduled up to 7 days before or 2 days after the other sections.
Can a student retake just one section?
Yes — the IELTS One Skill Retake is available for computer-format exams, within 60 days of the original test.
